When David delivered our drinks we inquired about both these things. Whilst we were waiting for our drinks we heard the waiter, Brian, tending to the table behind us say to the table, "would you like to order small plates or enjoy your cocktails for placing an order?" Additionally, we heard the host tell another couple as he was seating them, "there a few tables to choose from".

David said, "chef prefers all food orders placed at same time so he can pace himself". He asked about entrée order and we said we wanted to have our appetizer first and then order dinner. When he returned to take our drink order, we placed an order for small plates as well. we are stacked with reservations." This was our first visit so when we were trying to decide what cocktails to have David became frustrated with our need for a few more minutes. The host said he'd look into it however our waiter (head waiter David) said, "absolutely not.

and upon being seated we asked if we could have a different table. The community raves about Raas however I will not.

We needed a bigger table!!! What a feast!!! The chocolate mousse is quite simply the best I have ever eaten! Thank you Chef GG, and David and Aldrick (for my special cocktail) and all the chefs in the kitchen, for making this a truly memorable evening! David went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome, and was truly professional in every way.Ĭongratulations To Raas on winning the recent well deserved award from the Sussex County Council! Chef GG, Chef Bikram, Chef Sadaam, Chef Sashikan, Aldrick, David, Brian, Noni, Damian, you all worked very hard for your recent awards! Congratulations, and well done!! We're so happy for you! More The flavors in every dish were distinctive, well balanced and fresh. We also shared the pea and mushroom masala, chana masala, spinach and corn from the vegan menu, and saffron pea rice. I had promised my friends the large branzino, we were not disappointed! The 4.5 pound fish was melt in your mouth delicious, crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked inside and "just caught" fresh! The presentation was beautiful with vegetables and ginger sauce. We are regulars at Raas, and I don't write a review every time we visit, but we were there last Sunday evening for a special dinner with friends, and the meal was astounding! We started with crispy okra, papadam, smoked eggplant, and prawns. Overall an OK experience, the food was a good quality, our server was attentive, however, we left not wanting to return. We chose 2 appetizers, cauliflower Manchuria and bacon wrapped plantains (both very good, spicy) Our main courses were Dal Layla Mursa (good tasting lentil dish) and Chicken Korma (big chicken pieces and gentle taste)Īs we had read from other reviewers the owner/chef came out into the dining area and had conversations with some diners, however he took no contact with us even though we were next to a table he had a long conversation with (found that strange and left a bad impression) it was a small table for2 in front of the fireplace that had no grill attached (on the floor) and the insulation visible behind, not a great start! Particularly as the restaurant was quiet.Ī different waiter served us, he was very good, explained all the dishes and very enthusiastic. On entering the restaurant we were greeted well and told that we were going to be seated at the greeters favorite table! wow, well soon we found out.

I left with two tears in my eyes, one from the spice and one from my joy. Very delicious food served outside, spicy as desired. I ordered the samosa chaat and palak paneer, both of which were. Ordered takeout from door dash, I was running a few minutes late for pick up but the food was still warm when I picked it up. The veggie biryani was flavorless and mushy. I had takeout order for veggie biryani, garlic naan and mango lassi. This is prob the worst taste Indian restaurant I've been to. This review is a little overdue, but I stumbled upon this place on Uber Eats during a thunderstorm when no couriers were available for my normal go to's. Always a pleasure - consistent food, good timing and great service.
